Scotland's teachers are staging their first national walkout in almost 40 years, meaning many schools will close.
Around 70-thousand university lecturers across the UK are beginning a two-day strike.
And members of the Communication Workers Union at Royal Mail are also staging a 48-hour strike which is expected to have an impact on Black Friday deliveries.
Iain Owens from the University and College Union says there's no option but to take action.
