FOOD INFLATION HITS 11.6% IN UK AS SHOPPERS FACE CHRISTMAS COST INCREASE

Food prices in the UK are surging at their fastest rate on record - now sitting at an average of 11.6% more expensive than 12 months ago. The figures, published by the British Retail Consortium, deal another blow to the public who are already facing increased energy costs. Laura Makin-Isherwood has more.
