EU welcomes Ethiopia cessation of hostilities agreement

The European Union has welcomed an agreement to cease hostilities struck after peace talks in South Africa between the government of Ethiopia and rebel authorities in the Tigray region. 

The United Nations says tens of thousands of lives are believed to have been lost in the conflict, and warns more than five million people are in need of humanitarian assistance in Tigray.
