WARNING OVER WINTER NHS CRISIS

Health leaders are warning the NHS in England is facing one of its toughest winters on record.

Special 24/7 control rooms are being set up to see which hospitals are especially busy and divert ambulances elsewhere.

A worst case scenario model says up to half of all hospital beds could become occupied with respiratory infections such as Covid-19 and flu.

Health service expert Roy Lilley says it'll be a difficult period.
