The United States Supreme Court kicked off its new term on Monday, with several major cases due to be decided over the next nine months.
Yet even as the nine justices take their seats at the start of this judicial year, shock waves continue to reverberate across America from the panel's previous seismic term, during which it overturned abortion rights, loosened gun laws and limited the power to tackle climate change.
