UK ECONOMY CONTRACTS AS BANK SIGNALS END TO INTERVENTION

The UK economy unexpectedly shrank 0.3% in August according to the latest data.

It comes as the Bank of England insists its emergency bond-buying programme designed to shore up markets will end on Friday.

There's been volatility in UK financial markets since the government announced mini-budget last month.

Economist Simon French says despite saying its bond-buying will stop this week - the Bank of England may be forced to act again.
