The European Union and Israel are holding talks in Brussels hailed as an opportunity to reset relations after a decade in which the meeting format, known as an association council, was put on pause.
The two sides are set to discuss trade, climate, energy, health and technology issues – as well as the topic which most divides them: Brussels' accusations that Israel is violating international law through settlements and policies toward Palestinians.
Josep Borrell is the European Union's foreign affairs chief and he had this to say ahead of the talks.
