The UK's new monarch, King Charles III is preparing to address the British people on Friday, just hours after Buckingham Palace announced the death of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II.
Britain's longest serving monarch died on Thursday at the age of 96, just two days after she was still fulfilling her official engagements.
On Tuesday she formally invited Liz Truss to form the country's new government during an encounter at Balmoral.
