The European Central Bank has raised interest rates by 75 basis points, with officials signalling more hikes are on the way.
The bank, which sets monetary policy for the 19 countries which use the euro currency, is trying to tame record levels of inflation.
ECB chief Christine Lagarde spoke to reporters in Frankfurt following a meeting of the bank's governing council.
