New visa rules for Russian citizens have come into effect in four nations bordering Russia, which means even to those with a valid Schengen visa, the land-routes are closed to most.
Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia and Poland justify the move as a response to increased security concerns, with their land borders now the main route for Russians entering the EU, after direct flights from Russia to the EU were banned.
