IRAN DENIES LINK WITH RUSHDIE ATTACK

Iran says it 'categorically' denies any link with the stabbing of Salman Rushdie in New York.

But the country's foreign ministry says the author himself is to blame over the incident.

Iran's then Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini issued a Fatwa calling for Salman Rushdie's killing, after the publication of his book The Satanic Verses in 1988.
