At least 5 people have been killed and more than 20 wounded during a shooting that targeted an Independence Day parade in the Chicago suburb of Highland Park.
The shooting began shortly after 10am local time, just as community groups were taking to the streets to celebrate America's 246th birthday.

Other parades across Chicago were cancelled as news of the mass shooting spread and the search continued for the perpetrators.
A shelter in place order was issued for residents of Highland Park.
