The Speaker of the House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi has sidestepped questions about whether she still intends to visit Taiwan next month.
On Wednesday, prior to his positive Covid-19 test, President Biden said the Pentagon had raised objections to the Speaker's planned visit to Taipei.
She would become the highest-level US government official to visit Taiwan since 1997.
Speaking to reporters in Washington, Mrs. Pelosi refused to disclose whether she still plans to make the trip, and said she has not discussed the matter with the President.
