Calls are growing for UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson to leave Number 10 Downing Street sooner rather than later, after he announced on Thursday that he recognizes the governing Conservative Party no longer wants him as leader.
The Prime Minister never used the word "resign" in his statement outside Number 10, and insisted he plans to remain as a caretaker Prime Minister until the party has a chance to elect a new leader.
But several top Conservatives are rejecting that idea, calling it unsustainable.

The White House insists the relationship between the US and the UK will not be affected by the change at the top in Downing Street.
