America's democracy "came dangerously close to catastrophe" during the attack on the US Capitol on January 6th last year, according to the Congressional committee investigating the issurection.
In the third of a series of hearings, lawmakers on Thursday also highlighted what they said was Donald Trump's "relentless effort to pressure" then Vice-President Mike Pence to refuse to count the Electoral College votes and instead declare Mr Trump the winner of the 2020 election, as his supporters stormed the halls of Congress.
