Ex-Judges ask India's Supreme Court to "intervene" and protect citizens' rights

Intro:

A group of lawyers and ex-judges have written to India's Supreme Court to protect the rights of citizens in the country's most populated state Uttar Pradesh.

This comes after officials in the state razed houses of Muslim protestors.

They were agitating against allegedly derogatory remarks about Prophet Mohammad, made by two ruling party officials.

Ishan Garg reports.
