Ukraine claims Russians have resumed shelling of Mariupol steel plant

Ukrainian officials say the Russians have started shelling a besieged steel plant in the city of Mariupol where hundreds of civilians remain trapped.

The Azovstal plant has been the last bastion of Ukrainian efforts to resist a full Russian takeover of the city.

Ukrainian commanders say the shelling resumed shortly after a first batch of civilians were successfully evacuated from tunnels beneath the complex.
