UK SETS OUT NORTHERN IRELAND PROTOCOL LEGISLATION

The UK's setting out legislation to over-ride parts of the Northern Ireland protocol.

It says it's needed in case the EU doesn't agree to renegotiate parts of the post-Brexit trading arrangements for the region.

Brussels says it has no mandate for renegotiation and is urging London to stick to the treaty it signed.

Northern Ireland minister Brandon Lewis says he thinks a compromise can be found.
