Gun control legislation faces big hurdles in US senate

The massacre at an elementary school in Uvalde,Texas that killed 19 students and two teachers has renewed calls for stricter US gun laws. 

But legislation remains stalled in the US senate where the chances of achieving the necessary 60-40 vote margin to overcome a Republican filibuster appear slim.
