The south-eastern Ukrainian city of Mariupol is cut-off and under siege, according to a representative of a Russian-backed militia.
A spokesperson for forces of the so-called Donetsk People's Republic, who have been attacking from the west, says they want the city to surrender in order that "the civilian population does not suffer".
