Monday marks the 50th anniversary of U.S. President Richard Nixon's historic trip to China - a visit that opened the door to the establishment of trade and diplomatic relations and put Beijing on a path to global integration.
But five decades on, the relationship has lost its sparkle, and some question if it was the right move to make.
