Japan expands Covid restrictions amid fresh Covid records, but resists full scale emergency

The Japanese government will expand Covid countermeasures as the country battle fresh record highs of coronavirus infections. New cases topped 90,000 on Wednesday.

Prime Minister Fumio Kishida is facing mounting pressure to call a state of emergency. but says there is not need to act yet.
