US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov have held crisis talks over Ukraine by telephone and will meet face-to-face in Geneva on Friday.
The news comes as tensions rise along the Russian border with Ukraine where the Kremlin has massed more than 100 thousand troops.
The Secretary of State will visit Ukraine later this week and confer with European allies before his Friday meeting with the Russian foreign minister.
