India and Central Asia to boost ties through summit

INTRO:

India on Thursday will host the first meeting of the India-Central Asia summit, to be held virtually.

The summit will bring together the presidents of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, with Indian prime minister Narendra Modi.

The Central Asia republics and India are hoping to bolster ties amid diversification away from China and following the Taliban's takeover of Afghanistan.

Our correspondent Rebecca Bundhun has this report from Mumbai.
