Daily Covid deaths in U.S. has matched Delta peak

The number of Americans currently dying from Covid-19 each day has
matched levels seen at the peak of the Delta variant wave last year.

This comes despite a new study suggesting that the Omicron variant is
less severe than previous strains of the coronavirus.
