The UK's Health Security Agency says official findings of the Omicron Covid-19 variant offer a 'glimmer of hope' this Christmas.
Research has found that the strain is up to 70% less likely to cause hospitalisation, helped by the majority of the UK being fully vaccinated.
However, it still poses a high risk to public health as Chris Jones reports.
