UK TRAVEL BAN ON 6 AFRICAN NATIONS BEGINS

A travel ban on six African countries is being imposed by the UK government from Friday because of concerns about a new coronavirus variant.

South Africa, Namibia, Lesotho, Botswana, Eswatini and Zimbabwe will be added to the red list for travel to England.

Direct flights will be suspended until hotel quarantine facilities open on Sunday.

Health secretary Sajid Javid says it's very concerning.
