German citizens have been casting their votes in the election that will decide who replaces Angela Merkel as Chancellor after 16 years in power. But while polling stations have closed, it could be a long time yet before we know who will lead in the Bundestag. Exit polls have placed both the centre-right CDU and centre-left SDP neck and neck.
