More than a million homes and businesses are without power across a stretch of Louisiana and Mississippi, after Hurricane Ida (now downgraded to a tropical storm) pummeled the Gulf Coast coastline.
Heavy rains and storm surges amid Category 4 winds knocked out power to the whole city of New Orleans. Hundreds of homes have been threatened by flooding as levees failed, while some roof tops were torn off.
