The White House says U.S. President Joe Biden urged his Russian counterpart to take action on "ransomware groups" operating in his country during a phone call on Friday.
Biden and Russian President Vladimir Putin also discussed a last-minute deal brokered by the U.S. and Russia at the United Nations to maintain aid to Syria.
