ENGLAND'S JUNE 21ST EASING 'IN DOUBT'

The UK's next planned easing of covid-19 lockdown restrictions on June 21st can't be guaranteed, according to government ministers.

Although overall case rates remain low, a variant first discovered in India has started to spread quickly in parts of the country.

Almost all restrictions on the economy are due to be lifte on June 21st.

And 45% of adults have received both doses of a vaccine - and data suggests the jabs are working well against the India variant.

But cabinet minister Kwasi Kwarteng says he's still optimistic the next easing will go ahead as planned.
