INTRO:
The Democratic Republic of Congo has imposed martial law in two provinces in the east of the country following a rise in the killing of civilians there.
The move will see all civilian authorities in Ituri and North Kivu provinces be replaced by police and military officers for a period of 30 days.
The announcement was made by the DRC President's spokesperson on Monday evening. CGTN's Chris Ocamringa reports from Kinshasa.
