Japan announces new coronavirus measures as country faces fourth wave

The Japanese government has issued a designation allowing three prefectural governments to take stricter measures against the spread of coronavirus. 


Osaka and Hyogo Prefectures in Western Japan, along with Miyagi in the northeast, will now have the power to order businesses to shorten their hours, even if no state of emergency has been declared.
