China has banned and imposed sanctions on nine British citizens vocally critical of Beijing - including five Members of Parliament - for spreading what it says is "lies and disinformation" about the country.
It follows the introduction of sanctions by the European Union, the UK, the US and Canada on Chinese officials over alleged human rights abuses against Uighur Muslims in Xinjiang, claims that China denies.
