UK TO BOOST TESTING FOR INTERNATIONAL ARRIVALS

The UK is bringing in a requirement for further testing of all international arrivals while in quarantine.

All travellers to the UK are likely to be required to be tested on the second and eighth of ten days of isolation.

This is in addition to hotel quarantine, which is being imposed for UK residents who arrive from designated Covid-19 hotspots from Monday.

It's part of plans to try and avoid new variants spreading in Britain, but opposition politicians say it's come too late, and doesn't go far enough.

Cabinet minister George Eustice admits contracts haven't yet been signed with hotels which will be used for mandatory quarantine from next week.
