Kent variant of UK virus will "sweep the world," fears senior UK scientist

The coronavirus variant first found in the English country of Kent has "swept the UK" and is now on course to "sweep the world." 


That's according to the head of the UK's genetic surveillance programme, Professor Sharon Peacock, who says her work sequencing variants of the virus may be required for at least 10 years.
