Intro
The African Union has endorsed the idea of a waiver on Trade Related Intellectual Property Rights at the World health Organisation.
The proposal initiated by India and South Africa in October last year seeks to pause enforcement of Intellectual property rights on Covid-19 treatment related products like vaccines during the pandemic period.
The continent says this will enable local manufacturing of the products and in the long run enhance equitable access , that is currently a big issue.
