UK: 4M+ RECEIVE VACCINATIONS

The UK government says its vaccination programme will still prioritise giving covid-19 jabs to the oldest patients - even as it starts to move down the age ranges.

Over 4 million people have now received a first vaccine dose.

But while the over-70s are now beginning to be offered jabs, some over-90s are still yet to be vaccinated.

The government has a target of giving first doses to its four top priority groups by the middle of February.

Cabinet minister Brandon Lewis it's about moving through the cohorts as efficiently as possible.
