Germany's Bavaria announces tough new coronavirus rules

One of Germany's largest states has introduced tough new Covid-19 restrictions as it struggles to contain a pre-Christmas resurgence of the virus.

Bavarian State Premier Markus Soder said existing partial lockdown rules hadn't done enough to slow the spread, so stronger measures were needed.
