As US Covid cases surpass 10.1M, HHS Azar says Pfizer's vaccine may be available by year-end

A Covid-19 vaccine may be ready for the most vulnerable Americans by the end of the year, and for the general population in the spring next year, the top official at the US health department told NBC's "Today" show Tuesday.

Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar said US drugmaker Pfizer is ramping up production of its promising vaccine to deliver 20 million doses by the end of November.

The news comes as the total number of confirmed Covid-19 infections in the US surpassed ten-point-one million.
