UK MISSES 16 000 COVID CASES

UK officials say an IT glitch has been resolved that meant nearly 16 000 positive covid-19 test results were missed.

Between 25th September and 2nd October, 15, 841 cases were not included in daily UK figures.

The error means people in close contact with confirmed cases were not immediately contacted by the country's track and trace system.

The opposition Labour Party says it is 'shambolic'.

Doctor Susan Hopkins from Public Health England says it shouldn't have happened.
