The UK government says it still wants to avoid a national covid-19 lockdown.
This despite new data suggesting nearly 100 000 people are catching coronavirus every day in England, with the pace of the outbreak accelerating.
Scientists advising the government have been urging a national lockdown of some sort since September.
But cabinet minister Robert Jenrick says that's not the right course of action - yet.
