MANCHESTER TO ENTER STRICTEST LOCAL COVID-19 RESTRICTIONS

The UK Government is implementing the strictest tier of lockdown measures on Greater Manchester, despite the protests of its leaders.

The city and surrounding region in the north-west of England has a very high rate of infection, but the Mayor, Andy Burnham, has refused to implement a 'Tier 3' lockdown without additional financial support.

He tried to negotiate an extra 85 million dollars minimum, but the Government refused to provide so much.

Now the city will enter Tier 3 lockdown, and the Mayor wants Parliament to intervene.
