UK GOVT 'WANTS TO AVOID' NATIONAL LOCKDOWN

The UK government is considering tightening restrictions nationwide to slow the accelerating spread of coronavirus.

It's reported the government's scientific advisers are suggesting a two week national 'circut-breaker' - although schools and workplaces would remain open.

It comes with a growing number of UK regions under local lockdown measures.

And UK Health Secretary Matt Hancock says the government wants to avoid a national lockdown if possible.
