Former Audi CEO in court over dieselgate scandal

The first top executive linked to the infamous dieselgate scandal has been put on trial in Germany. A Munich Court will probe how much the then CEO of Audi knew about the installation of 'defeat devices' in cars across the Volkswagen group. 

So far, Volkswagen has paid 30 billion euros in fines and compensation over the 2015 scandal. But no top executives have been sent to prison in Germany - something local prosecutors hope to change.
