The UK is imposing sanctions on people it believes have committed human rights abuses around the world.
Unusually, the sanctions will be taken by Britain alone - normally they're imposed jointly with other countries, with groups like the European Union or United Nations.
But now the UK has left the EU, the law will allow the UK to take sanctions unilaterally.
