A prominent democratic lawmaker in Hong Kong says the arrest of hundreds of protesters on Wednesday shows the law is less about national security, and more about silencing political dissent.
Police detained at least 370 people, some under national security offences, in the unrest that engulfed the city on the anniversary of its return to China.
