Australia's Treasurer Josh Frydenberg says the economic downturn which was caused by the Covid-19 pandemic has pushed Australia into recession.
The latest data shows the Australian economy contracted by point-3 of a per cent in the March quarter, and a worse result is expected next quarter.
Josh Frydenberg says measures to slow the spread of coronavirus have caused most problems, but bushfires and drought didn't help.
Even so, he has defended Australia's fiscal performance and compared it with other economies around the world.
