UK DEPORTATION FLIGHT TO JAMAICA GOES AHEAD

A controversial British deportation flight to Jamaica has gone ahead - but with fewer detainees than planned.

A Court of Appeal judge ordered the Home Office on Monday it could not deport many of them, amid concerns over their access to legal advice.

The government insists everyone on the flight was a Jamaican national convicted of serious criminal offenses.

But critics say some of the people the Home Office is trying to deport have spent the majority of their lives in the UK and have no family in Jamaica.

Chancellor Said Javid is defending the move.
