UK DECLARES 'SERIOUS AND IMMINENT THREAT' FROM CORONAVIRUS

The UK's now declared the coronavirus as a 'serious and imminent threat to public health'.

The government's announced new powers to deal with its spread - including forcing anyone who tests positive into quarantine.

It comes amid concern a British man could have passed it to seven other people as he travelled from Singapore.

Four people are now being treated for the virus in the UK.

Professor John Ashton is former president of the Faculty of Public Health.

He says communications on the outbreak need to be stepped up in the UK.
